Linear Park The Old Fort King Trail is a multi-use trail for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The trail will connect the Hillsborough River State Park with Sargeant Park on US 301 in Hillsborough County. Ekistics Design Studio was responsible for site plan design of the trailhead, facilities, trailstops and overall project directional and educational signage. Part of the trail and trailhead parking is paved with an environmentally friendly surface made with on-site soils mixed with lignin, a wood based product. Ekistics was also responsible for the location and design of all park structures including shelters, fencing, benches, picnic tables and trash receptacles. The project required close coordination between state and local land management agencies.
